Thomas Taggart Appointed Maritime Chapter Chair, IAHSS

Healthcare Operations Manager, Thomas Taggart, was recently appointed Chapter Chair for IAHSS’s Maritime Chapter in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

IAHSS President Elect Martin Green shared the news of Tom’s role in a recent Board Update, saying, “We are pleased to report that we have been able to foster the support of the volunteer leadership in that of Thomas Taggart from Paladin Security as the newly appointed Chapter Chair. Congratulations on your new role Tom, and thank you for volunteering your time to build safer healthcare in Eastern Canada.”

When asked about his new role as Chapter Chair, Tom shared passionately about why he believes in engagement and membership, sharing:

“Staying up to date on the recent publications from IAHSS helps ensure the information I am providing to our clients is in line with industry best practices. It means so much to me to now have the opportunity to play an active role in this organization, bringing life back to the Maritime Chapter.

I choose to engage in IAHSS because I have learned from professionals that I admire in the industry, one being Paladin’s COO Don MacAlister, that IAHSS membership brings great knowledge and values that can then transfer to Paladin's tailored programs for our clients. Membership gives you access to online resources and networking opportunities with other leaders in the industry.

Don has been an active leader in the association on the guidelines council and co-authoring Hospital and Healthcare Security; it gives validity to the fact that the best practices designed by IAHSS as an organization and its membership truly are transferred through to Paladin and our clients.

I am excited to work with IAHSS to grow the Maritime Chapter and expand overall security awareness in the Maritime Provinces. It is an exciting time to be a part of moving our provinces and our industry leaders in the pursuit of improvement.”

The International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) is the only organization solely dedicated to professionals involved in managing and directing security and safety programs in healthcare facilities. With more than 2,000 members, IAHSS sets the standard in which healthcare security, law enforcement, safety and emergency management leaders adhere to when ensuring best practices.
